The Law on fuels was published in the State Gazette

The Law on Administrative Regulation of the Economic Activities Related to Oil and Petroleum Products was published in the State Gazette, Issue 62, July 27th, 2018, and comes into force in 6 months.

Despite the protests of the sector, the Fuel Act was passed on for a second voting and was accepted by the National Assembly. The requirements include companies that trade, store or transport fuels and are due to registration, high authorized capital (1 000 000 BGN for wholesale and 20 000 BGN for object of retail), bank guarantees and a number of requirements to the managers.

The law affects, in full force, the departmental gas stations as well.

The unnecessary financial and administrative burdens will lead to the cessation of the activity of smaller and medium-sized traders and users of fuels. The results will be closed filling stations, non-working departmental facilities, large distances in smaller settlements without petrol stations, fewer wholesale traders, loss of jobs, higher fuel prices for the end consumers, consolidation of the fuel market by the large players.
